About

The Sorrows of Eve exists to equip the church with resources needed to understand and respond to perinatal mood and anxiety disorders such as postpartum depression, psychosis, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. With posts for both mom and support teams, it serves to both educate and encourage, providing a Christian understanding of PMADs built on a biblical worldview.

Why The Sorrows of Eve?

Genesis 3 makes it clear that when Adam and Eve sinned, corruption and decay entered the world. God’s words to Eve following the Fall emphasize that childbearing is now filled with toil and pain for women (Genesis 3:16). PMADs are one manifestation of this sorrow. But the context of these comments to Eve also make it clear that there is hope amidst the difficulty, the Snake Crusher (Jesus), who puts an end to all sin and brokenness (Genesis 3:15), including PMADs.

About Kyleigh

Kyleigh Dunn is the founder of and primary contributor to The Sorrows of Eve. I’ve had postpartum depression, PTSD, anxiety, and OCD, as well as prenatal anxiety. Every time, I had to do my own research to find the resources I needed to heal, often having to connect what I read in literature about PMADs with the more spiritual and theological encouragement I found in Christian books writing more generally about depression and anxiety. I don’t want others to have to do the same, so I started this website.

My husband Ezra and I have four children. In my spare time (in between homeschooling, running this website, and my seminary studies), I read obsessively and enjoy playing oboe and piano. My personal blog is http://www.thesojourningdunns.wordpress.com and I can be found on Instagram @kyleighrdunn or Facebook @thesojourningdunns.
